A Sikh man, who has been working as a taxi driver in Australia’s Melbourne for more than 30 years, is in the news for his honesty.
Charanjit Singh Atwal returned around 8,000 Australian dollars (Rs 4.53 lakh approximately) to a passenger who left the cash in the backseat of his taxi.
In an Instagram post by the page @bramalea.rd, Charanjit Singh Atwal told a reporter that he keeps finding things left behind by passengers in his car. Recently, he discovered around $8,000 in the backseat and immediately took the cash to the police. He said the thought of keeping the cash never crossed his mind.
When he was asked if he got a reward in return from the owner, Atwal said, “No, I don’t need a reward”.

“Did he ever think what if that was God giving HIM a blessing because he works so hard and he just gave back God‘s blessing,” a user commented. “He is blessed, and his honesty and good deed will be returned to him tenfold,” said another. “It’s positive stories like this that will encourage others to do good as well,” another person wrote.
“I remember a senior Punjabi couple who travelled next to me, the guy was upset that they worked hard and built a good name in Canada but the new generation moving here are spoiling it with rash driving and all the noises they create around. It’s always the good deeds , social services and sharing food etc that comes to mind when I hear about Punjabis, I hope and wish it remains like that,” said another.
