BJP MP and national general secretary Bandi Sanjay Kumar has accused the new Congress-led Telangana government of committing an “unforgivable crime in the guise of secularism” and urged the state to cancel its funding for a Tablighi Jamaat congregation and take action against those who sanctioned Rs 2.45 crore of public funds for the event.

Sharing a government order on social media, the former state unit chief called it “pure evil and outrageous” of the new government to fund a Tablighi Jamaat meeting in Vikarabad district from January 6 to 8.

Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan have banned the Tablighi Jamaat organisation for promoting terrorism, Kumar pointed out.

Party MLA T Raja Singh, in a video message, sought to know from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on what basis the programme was sanctioned funds and urged the CM to reconsider the government decision.

The GO dated December 13 from the Minorities Welfare Department, as shared by Kumar, sanctioned over Rs 2.45 crore towards arrangement of basic amenities for a three-day Islamic congregation being organised by Tablighi Jamaat at Parigi .

“It is outrageous that more than ₹2.45 crore have been sanctioned for the arrangements of the meeting organised by the Tablighi Jamaat organisation in the name of Islamic society in January in Parigi mandal of Vikarabad district,” he said.

“Does the newly elected government of Revanth Reddy know this? What are intelligence agencies doing? What do you want to do to Telangana with the Tukde Tukde gang? Congress government claims that the state is bankrupt, but is funding a program organized by Tablighi Jamaat, which promotes terrorism and the spread of Islam,” Kumar alleged.

Blaming the organisation as the main reason for the spread of coronavirus in the country in 2020, Kumar added, “this organisation’s entry into Telangana in the name of gatherings and meetings is leading to many suspicions, that too at a time when the coronavirus is spreading in India again.”

“Who is the mastermind behind the government’s grant of funds to an organization involved in spreading extremist ideologies and forced religious conversions?” he asked.

BJP MLA Raja Singh also shared similar views suggesting that Tablighi Jamaat’s name has been linked to several terrorist activities.

“The true face of Congress has come to the fore. If in the future Narendra Modi’s government does not come to power, Congress will give every district in the hands of Tablighi Jamaat and terrorism will rise in the country,” Singh said, urging the CM to reconsider the government’s order.
