A native of Fatehpur village under Subhash Nagar police station, Veerpal’s farming land is located in neighbouring Khajuwahi village under the Visharatganj police station.

On Saturday night, the animals strayed into the field, prompting Nanhey Lal to alert his companions and all three managed to shoo the animals away. The police said the stray animal then moved into the field of the accused, located next to Veerpal’s farm, who were also guarding their crops.

Irked over it, accused Gabbar, Shivkumar, and his unidentified relative came to the victims’ hut and attacked them with sticks. By the time Veerpal reached the spot, the attackers had fled. Veerpal and his relatives rushed the three victims to the hospital where Nanhey Lal died during treatment.

A complaint has been filed at Visharatganj police station against Gabbar, Shivkumar, and their unidentified relative on charges of murder and attempt to murder.

Initially, there was confusion regarding the jurisdiction of the police station, but the matter was resolved after senior officers directed Visharatganj police to handle the case.
