Pune to ring in the New Year with a chill: IMD

In Pune, winter chills have not been felt since December 24 as the minimum temperature has slowly risen.

Pune is all set to ring in 2024 with cloudy skies and a dip in minimum temperature. In its forecast, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said Pune would see cloudy skies and general chill during the daytime from December 31 to January 1.

At present, Pune along with the rest of Maharashtra does not have any active weather systems and has seen a gradual rise in minimum temperature along with mostly clear skies.

From December 28, with wind interactions from North and Northeast, most parts of North India and Maharashtra would see an increase in cloudy skies as well as haze.

From the evening of December 28, Pune and its surrounding region would see cloudy skies and a dip in minimum temperature. IMD had said from December 29 to January 1 Pune would see a general sense of chill during the daytime.

Parts of Pune and its surrounding region would also see haze in the early morning. The New Year would thus start on a cold note for Pune and its surrounding region.

This year the minimum temperature for Pune was 9 degree Celsius, recorded at Pashan last week. The winter has generally been warmer than usual for the city.
